Stopping Suicide

 

The answer to this question is not far fetched giving the grounds on which many people choose to commit suicide. Let us look at some of this grounds;

• Suicide is often carried out as a result of despair, the cause of which is frequently attributed to a mental disorder,personality disorder.
• Alcoholism, or Drug abuse.
• Stress factors such as financial difficulties or troubles
• Relationship with the opposite sex.

 Now, with all these mentioned above we can see that suicide is very much hard to isolate from our society. Since it can not be removed totally, how then can it be stopped?, What is the best approach to use when trying to convince someone who is about committing suicide.

Lets take a look at the two basic approach;

Positive Approach
This is The most common approach used by many to stop suicide attempt. It involves telling that person that there are people out there who loves him/her. Telling that person that you will miss him, trying to convince that person with tears on your eyes.you use statements like "Please do not do this, remember your mother, father and all those who loves you, they will keep on crying and die early. Are you going to leave them lone this world?"

Negative Approach
This method is rare but very much effective than the initial method stated. This involves using a very harsh approach on the person who is about to commit suicide, in this case you try telling that person that he is very much stupid, you tell him that if he wants to die, he should no one cares, that he is the one that will miss a lot. This method may seem not to work but when the person about to commit suicide hears this statements, he pauses for a while and has a re-think . Statements like "Come on, go on, go on and kill yourself. who cares if you live or die, you are the one who is going to miss the fun here and visit the cold hands of death not me".

Committing suicide is not ADVISED.
All these approaches has ups and downs.
