Nigeria 2015 Presidential Election Saga
Nigeria’s 2015 presidential
elections kicked off today but it was indeed filled with fascinating stories,
and below are the few made available for you by us.
Enugu Bombing
There was a bomb blast at Enugu, though there were no casualties recorded.
It was said that there was a black Honda
Accord car with registration number KUJ
971 LB, which there are no information yet on who was driving it, but the
car was reported to be loaded with
Improvise Explosive Devices (IED), but due to the high level of security
personnel in the area, the car could not get to its target which was a polling
unit in Ogui, Enugu State. The
vehicle exploded behind the polling unit. The suspect of the attack was the Boko Haram Terrorist Group.
8 INEC Officers Kidnapped In
Enugu
Some officials of the INEC were kidnapped this morning with electoral
materials reported to be in their possession at the time of their kidnapping.
Their where about is still unknown.
Ekiti State Deputy Governor
Attack
The Ekiti State deputy Governor was attacked this morning still when
his convoy was said to be hanging around the polling booth in Ward 6, Unit 2
Ikere Ekiti. It was said that his security personnel shot intermittently causing
casualties. A ward security and a voter was said to be injured.
Anambra Bombing
Just hours after the incident at Enugu, a similar one occurred at
Anambra State. The explosion occurred at atom polling unit at Umuokpara Primary
School, Awka ward one. The good news is, there were no casualties reported.
INEC Website Hacked
Among all the few mentioned, this one is the only one that is not in a straight line a threat to life. The INEC
website was hacked by an unknown hack group, around the hour of 1 – 2 mid-day.
Rumor has it that a hacking group NCA
were the perpetrators of this illicit act, while others has it that it was
not them and many different rumor were heard. But the truth about the matter
was that the INEC’s Official Website was
hacked.
The election was not concluded on 28th
March, 2015. It was extended to 29th
due to the fact that many polling booths were not able to successfully
carry out the voting exercise.
